About Us
TCB Scans exists for one reason: to make sure every One Piece fan around the world can read the latest chapter on the same day it publishes in Japan. We are a volunteer fan translation group, and this site is where we share that work freely with the community.
Where We Started
TCB Scans grew out of a shared frustration that fans outside Japan had to wait days, sometimes longer, to read new chapters of a series they loved. A small group of translators, typesetters, and editors came together with a simple goal: close that gap. We sourced the Japanese pages as soon as they were available, translated the dialogue accurately into English, and published the finished chapters as quickly as we could do it well.
What started as a small operation has grown into one of the most recognised fan translation groups in the One Piece community. The core mission has not changed. We are still here to deliver clean, readable, accurate English translations of One Piece the moment they are possible to produce.
What We Do
Every week, our team works through the full translation pipeline from raw Japanese pages to finished English chapter. That process includes translation from Japanese, editing for natural English flow, cleaning the original page art, typesetting English text into the original speech bubbles and captions, and a quality check before anything goes live. Everyone involved does this voluntarily, out of genuine love for One Piece and the community built around it.
We focus on One Piece specifically because focus produces better work. Keeping our attention on a single series means our translation choices are consistent, our formatting is reliable, and our turnaround time is as short as it can be without cutting corners on accuracy.
Our Standards
Accuracy first
We translate as faithfully as the original Japanese allows. Where a direct translation would read awkwardly in English, we adapt the dialogue so it sounds natural without losing the meaning Oda intended. Character voices matter to us. Zoro should sound like Zoro, and Luffy should sound like Luffy, in every chapter we release.
Clean presentation
We do not plaster watermarks across the page art or compromise the reading experience with intrusive branding. The artwork belongs to Eiichiro Oda and Shueisha. Our job is to add accurate English text and stay out of the way of the story.
Speed without compromise
We aim to have each chapter available within a few hours of the Japanese release. We do not rush a chapter out with errors just to be first. If a chapter takes a little longer because it needs more care, it takes a little longer. Quality is the standard; speed is the goal we chase within that standard.
A Note on Official Releases
We respect Eiichiro Oda and everything he has put into One Piece over the past three decades. Fan translations like ours exist in a grey area, and we acknowledge that. If you are able to support the official release through Manga Plus, the Shonen Jump app, or by purchasing the collected volumes, we encourage you to do so. Supporting the official channels supports Oda and ensures One Piece keeps going.
The Team
TCB Scans is run entirely by volunteers. Our team includes translators, editors, cleaners, typesetters, and quality checkers, all of whom give their time because they care about One Piece and want to share it with the global community. We do not publish individual names publicly, but every chapter you read represents hours of careful work by people who do this for the love of the series.
Join the Community
If you enjoy our work, the best thing you can do is read here, share the site with fellow fans, and join the conversation in the One Piece community. We release new chapters every week and keep the archive of recent chapters available on the site. Welcome, and enjoy the journey to the One Piece.
